Abstract: Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of the Regulating Stomach and Calming Mind Acupuncture Method in the treatment of chronic insomnia (spleen-stomach disharmony type),.MethodsSA total of 64 patients diagnosed and treated were divided into the Regulating Stomach and Calming Mind Prescription Group and the Conventional Prescription Group. Both groups received 8 weeks of treatment. The indicators for comparison between the two groups included the reduction scores of PSQI, Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Scale and GSRS, the measured values of intracerebral neurotransmitter (5-HT, GABA, Glu, ACh, NE, DA) secretion, clinical effective rate and adverse reaction incidence.SResultsSThere was no statistically significant difference in baseline data including scale scores and neurotransmitter levels between the two groups before intervention (P>0.05). After 8 weeks of treatment, the intervention group showed significantly better performance in scale score reduction, neurotransmitter level regulation and clinical effective rate than the control group, with statistical difference (P<0.05).SConclusionSThe Regulating Stomach and Calming Mind Prescription is superior to the conventional prescription in improving sleep quality, relieving gastrointestinal functional symptoms, increasing clinical effective rate, and regulating the levels of intracerebral neurotransmitters 5-HT, GABA and Glu (shifting abnormal values towards the normal ranges).
