Abstract: Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of medicinal diets based on the theory of “invigorating the spleen and harmonizing the stomach”in promoting the recovery of gastrointestinal function in postoperative gastric cancer patients with spleen-qi deficiency syndrome. Methods Eighty patients undergoing laparoscopic radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer were selected and divided into two groups using a random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group received routine dietary nursing, while the experimental group was additionally treated with medicinal diet therapy on this basis. The intervention course for both groups was 10 days. The postoperative gastrointestinal function recovery indicators, TCM syndrome scores, and nursing satisfaction of the two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate of the experimental group was 72.5%, which was higher than 42.5% of the control group(P<0.05).The recovery time of bowel sounds, the time to first flatus and defecation in the experimental group were shorter than those in the control group(P<0.05).The scores of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) syndrome patterns such as epigastric pain, anorexia, belching, and fatigue after surgery were all lower in the experimental group compared to the control group.(P<0.05).Conclusion Medicinal diet therapy can effectively promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function, improve traditional Chinese medicine syndromes, and enhance nursing satisfaction in postoperative gastric cancer patients with spleen-qi deficiency syndrome.
