Abstract: Colorectal cancer, as one of the most common malignant tumors of the digestive system, poses an escalating public health risk due to its continuously increasing global incidence. Colonic adenomatous polyps are currently recognized as the most common precancerous lesions of colorectal cancer, and blocking the “adenoma-carcinoma transformation” has become a key link in primary prevention of colorectal cancer. Although endoscopic resection is available in Western medicine, the high postoperative recurrence rate remains a major clinical challenge, and Western medicine lacks systematic intervention strategies. The theory of “Yin-Yang self-harmony leading to spontaneous recovery,” originating from the Treatise on Cold Damage, emphasizes that the pathogenesis of postoperative recurrence of colonic adenoma and “adenoma-carcinoma transformation” lies essentially in “insufficient Yin-Yang self-harmony.” By reinforcing healthy Qi and eliminating pathogenic factors to assist Yin-Yang self-harmony, and by regulating the overall internal environment of the body, the body’s self-healing potential can be restored. This article systematically reviews the theoretical connotation of “Yin-Yang self-harmony” and its association with the pathogenesis of colonic adenoma, and explores prevention and treatment strategies based on this theory in combination with clinical case studies.
