Abstract: AbstractObjective: To investigate the clinical and ultrasonographic characteristics of thyroid follicular adenoma (FA) and follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC). Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 103 patients who underwent thyroid ultrasonography and subsequent surgical pathology at the First Hospital of Quanzhou from January 2022 to January 2026. Among them, 61 patients were diagnosed with FA and 42 patients with FTC. Clinical data and ultrasonographic features were collected and compared between the two groups. Results: Statistically significant differences were identified between FA and FTC patients in terms of age, serum thyroglobulin levels, and anti-thyroglobulin antibody titers (all p < 0.05). Ultrasonographic evaluation revealed distinct disparities in nodule composition, internal echo, echo uniformity, calcification, acoustic halo presence and integrity, acoustic halo thickness, as well as blood flow distribution and abundance (p < 0.05 for each parameter). Conclusion: Clinical profiles and ultrasonographic features differ significantly between FA and FTC, suggesting these parameters can provide valuable reference points to improve diagnostic accuracy and facilitate differential diagnosis between follicular adenoma and follicular thyroid carcinoma.
