Abstract: The professional development of clinical nursing education has become an inevitable trend. As the core role in the clinical nursing education system, nurse educators must possess multiple core competencies, including teaching, clinical practice, leadership, and research. International experience demonstrates that a mature training system for nurse educators relies on tiered certification and continuing education mechanisms. Currently, the development of nurse educators in China remains in the exploratory stage, facing challenges such as ambiguous role definitions, insufficient dedicated positions, and a lack of certification systems. Future efforts should focus on clarifying the functional positioning of nurse educators as professional education entities, establishing a localized tiered certification system, and implementing closed-loop management encompassing selection, training, assessment, and promotion. This will provide sustainable talent support for advancing high-quality nursing development.
