Abstract: The purpose of family doctors is to change the grass-roots medical and health service model, strengthen the grass-roots medical and health service network, reasonably optimize the allocation of medical resources and maintain peoples health. However, the impact and role of family doctors on Residents health and the economic burden of medical expenses are not clear. On the basis of reviewing and combing the existing studies, the study empirically tested the economic performance and health performance of family doctors contracted services by using the micro survey data of charls2018. The study found that the contracted services of family doctors can significantly improve the health level of residents, but it has no significant impact on the total medical expenses and personal medical burden. This conclusion is still valid after robustness tests such as replacing core explanatory variables and considering endogenous problems. Further studies show that family doctor contract has different effects on health promotion of different age, registered residence, chronic patient group and disabled people, and the impact on medical economic burden is not obvious. This conclusion can be used for reference to help us re-examine and optimize the family doctor signing system.
