Abstract: Childhood leukemia is one of the most common pediatric malignancies, and its onset and treatment are frequently accompanied by malnutrition. Malnutrition is closely related to disease progression and prognosis, and it adversely impacts the growth, development, and quality of life of affected children. Furthermore, it may accelerate disease progression and reduce treatment efficacy through various physiological and pathological mechanisms. Recent studies have identified inflammatory cytokines as critical mediators linking malnutrition and leukemia, forming an important biological basis for their mutual influence. This article systematically reviews the mechanisms through which inflammatory cytokines contribute to the onset and progression of childhood leukemia, with particular emphasis on their roles in immune regulation, tumor microenvironment remodeling, and chemotherapy sensitivity. The aim of this study was to provide theoretical foundations and empirical evidence for optimizing comprehensive treatment strategies and improving clinical outcomes in pediatric patients.
