Abstract: Objective? To investigate the effects of?Helicobacter pylori?(Hp) infection on iron stores and iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in women of childbearing age.?Methods?A total of 80 women of childbearing age diagnosed with IDA at Jinhua Maternal and Child Health Hospital from October 2023 to October 2025 were selected as the case group, and 80 healthy women of childbearing age during the same period were selected as the control group. Hp infection status, hemoglobin, serum ferritin, and other iron metabolism and hematological parameters were measured, and clinical indicators such as gastrointestinal symptoms were recorded.?Results ?Compared with the control group, the case group showed a significantly higher incidence of Hp positivity, significantly lower levels of hemoglobin, serum ferritin, and serum iron, and significantly reduced mean corpuscular volume (P<0.05). Compared with the Hp-negative group, the Hp-positive group had significantly lower levels of hemoglobin, serum ferritin, and serum iron, significantly reduced mean corpuscular volume (P<0.05), and significantly higher incidences of gastrointestinal symptoms, gastrointestinal bleeding, poor nutritional status, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug use (P<0.05). No significant differences were found in hemoglobin, serum ferritin, serum iron, or mean corpuscular volume between the Hp-positive case subgroup and the Hp-negative case subgroup (P>0.05).?Conclusion?Hp infection is closely associated with reduced iron stores and the development of IDA in women of childbearing age. Hp-positive women of childbearing age are more likely to exhibit abnormalities in iron metabolism and gastrointestinal-related clinical indicators.
