Abstract: Ferroptosis is a type of iron-dependent lipid peroxidation-driven regulated cell death that is closely related to the development of various diseases. In recent years, the role of traditional Chinese medicine in regulating ferroptosis through multiple targets and pathways has received increasing attention. This article systematically reviews the research progress on how active components of traditional Chinese medicine interfere with ferroptosis by regulating core mechanisms such as iron metabolism, antioxidant systems, and lipid peroxidation. It focuses on analyzing the regulatory effects of representative components like curcumin and astragaloside IV on ferroptosis and their potential applications in disease treatment. Additionally, it summarizes the latest research advancements on how active components of traditional Chinese medicine induce or inhibit ferroptosis. The aim is to provide a theoretical basis for the in-depth development of traditional Chinese medicine targeting ferroptosis for disease treatment and for research into the mechanisms of ferroptosis regulation. This may also offer new insights for the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine research and the treatment of related diseases.
