    Abstract: Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is an effective therapy for end-stage renal disease, while ultrafiltration failure (UFF) is the primary reason for patient withdrawal from PD. Peritoneal angiogenesis, as a key contributor to UFF, has emerged as an important therapeutic target for its prevention and treatment. Targeting this pathological process, this paper elucidates the traditional Chinese medicine pathogenesis of peritoneal angiogenesis based on the Deficiency Qi Stagnation theory, proposing that the representative Qi-invigorating and blood-activating formula Buyang Huanwu Decoction corresponds to this pathogenesis. By systematically reviewing research progress at the formula, single-herb, and herb-pair levels, this paper elaborates on the mechanisms by which Buyang Huanwu Decoction inhibits peritoneal angiogenesis through the regulation of multiple signaling pathways, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of PD complications using traditional Chinese medicine.
