Abstract: Systematically exploring the association between tonsillar infection and IgA nephropathy (IgAN), along with its pathological mechanisms and clinical significance, is grounded in the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory of larynx-kidney correlation . An in-depth analysis integrating perspectives from both TCM and Western medicine (WM) summarizes recent advances in clinical practice and experimental research concerning the modern TCM throat-targeted therapeutic approach for IgAN. Analysis demonstrates significant commonality between the TCM larynx-kidney correlation concept and the WM mucosa-kidney axis theory, collectively revealing the biological basis establishing tonsillar infection as a key trigger for IgAN onset and progression. The discussion concludes that future research requires deeper exploration into the specific regulatory mechanisms of the tonsillar immune microenvironment on IgAN pathogenesis. Furthermore, active promotion of clinical translation for integrated TCM-WM prevention and treatment strategies is warranted to provide novel insights for IgAN management.
