Abstract: Rheumatoid arthritis(RA) belongs to the category of “Wangbi” in traditional Chinese medicine. Its course of disease is lingering and has a high disability rate. It often involves joints and multiple viscera, and it is difficult to take into account the whole with a single local treatment. Based on the holistic concept of traditional Chinese medicine and the theory of qi and blood in meridians and collaterals, the theory of “body-viscera arthralgia”expands the connotation of “body ”and “zang ”, and reveals the core pathogenesis of RA “body-viscera arthralgia and zang-viscera arthralgia, body-viscera arthralgia and body-viscera arthralgia.”Based on this theory, this paper systematically expounds its application in the diagnosis and treatment of RA from the aspects of etiology and pathogenesis, treatment principles, syndrome differentiation and treatment, which can provide ideas for the treatment of RA.
