Research Progress on the Correlation between Triglyceride-Glucose Index and Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Fatty Liver Disease as Well as Colorectal Polyps

Abstract: The comorbidity rate of metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) and colorectal polyps is high. They share core pathological mechanisms including insulin resistance, chronic low?grade inflammation and gut?liver axis disturbance, while non?invasive and convenient unified indicators are lacking for clinical screening. The triglyceride?glucose index (TyG index) can stably evaluate insulin resistance and glycolipid metabolism disorders, with the advantages of low cost and easy popularization. Available evidence demonstrates that the TyG index is independently and dose?responsively associated with the occurrence and development of MAFLD and the risk of colorectal polyps, and can serve as a potential biomarker for the synergistic screening of both diseases. This paper systematically reviews the correlation and molecular mechanisms among them, summarizes the clinical application value and research limitations, and provides a theoretical basis for early warning, precise stratification and integrated prevention and control of metabolism?related gastrointestinal diseases.
