Abstract: Parkinsons disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder that commonly affects middle-aged and elderly people. Currently, there is a lack of effective disease-modifying treatments in clinical practice. Curcumin has multi-target neuroprotective effects and shows unique potential in the prevention and treatment of PD. This article systematically reviews the research progress of curcumin in the prevention and treatment of PD, summarizes its neuroprotective effects and molecular mechanisms, and introduces the delivery strategies to improve bioavailability and the current status of clinical research. Curcumin exerts protective effects through multiple mechanisms, including antioxidative stress, inhibition of neuroinflammation, maintenance of mitochondrial functional homeostasis, induction of autophagy, and inhibition of α-synuclein (α-Syn) aggregation, and is expected to become a candidate drug for disease-modifying therapy in PD.
