Abstract: As two common chronic diseases, chronic hepatitis B (CHB) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) often coexist clinically, interacting with each other and exacerbating the condition. In recent years, studies have found that traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) exhibits unique advantages in the treatment of CHB and T2DM, especially achieving synergistic treatment through multi-component and multi-target regulation of common signaling pathways. This article reviews the common etiology and pathogenesis of CHB and T2DM, as well as the research progress on how single TCM herbs and their active ingredients commonly used in clinical treatment of these two diseases exert therapeutic effects by regulating key signaling pathways such as PI3K/Akt, MAPK, NF-κB, and Toll-like receptors. It provides new ideas for clinical treatment and a theoretical basis for the research and development of related drugs.
