Abstract: Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a prevalent sleep disorder that significantly impairs patients quality of life and overall health. With in-depth research into the pathogenesis of OSA, the hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) signaling pathway has been identified as closely associated with its pathophysiological processes. Aberrant expression of the HIF-1 signaling pathway can influence the progression of OSA through multiple mechanisms, including the regulation of oxidative stress, inflammatory responses, and metabolic disorders. In recent years, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), as a conventional and effective therapeutic approach, has been gradually introduced into OSA treatment research. TCM alleviates clinical symptoms in OSA patients by modulating the HIF-1 signaling pathway, thereby improving oxidative stress and inflammatory responses associated with OSA. This article aims to elucidate the mechanistic role of the HIF-1 signaling pathway in OSA, summarize recent advancements in TCM research through the regulation of the HIF-1 signaling pathway, and explore its clinical application prospects, thereby providing novel insights and directions for the comprehensive treatment of OSA.
