Research progress on the role of protein ubiquitination in the occurrence and development of gastric cancer

    Abstract: Ubiquitin (UB) is a small protein present in most eukaryotic cells that tags and disassembles specific proteins through the ubiquitination complex chain reaction, a process that is an important post-translational modification. Gastric cancer (GC) has various pathogenic factors, and protein ubiquitination can regulate the stability, activity, interaction, cell signaling, receptor downregulation and gene transcription processes of gastric cancer by covalently binding small molecule ubiquitin proteins, thereby affecting the progression and prognosis of gastric cancer. At the same time, there are different sites in the ubiquitination composite chain reaction, which can be used as a target for gastric cancer treatment drugs. In this paper, we will review the research progress in the last five years on the role of protein ubiquitination modification in gastric cancer development.
