Abstract: Objective To investigate the selection patterns of acupuncture points for treating infrapatellar fat pad injury using data mining techniques. Methods Literature on acupuncture treatment for infrapatellar fat pad injury was retrieved from China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Data Network, VIP Information and the Chinese Biomedical Literature Database. A literature database was established using Microsoft Excel 2021 software, and descriptive statistical analysis was conducted on the selected points. Association rules and high-frequency acupoint clustering analysis were performed using R software(version4.4.2). Results The most frequently used treatment modalities are warm acupuncture and acupuncture therapy. High-frequency acupoints include Du Bi, Nei Xi Yan, Ah Shi points, Zu San Li, and Yang Ling Quan. Primarily distributed along the spleen and stomach meridians and in the lower limbs. Specific points frequently involve Wu Shu points and He points. The combination of Nei Xi Yan and Du Bi demonstrated the highest support in association rules; high-frequency acupoint clusters included Du Bi-Nei Xi Yan and Ah Shi points-Zu San Li-Yang Ling Quan-Xuan Zhong-Liang Qiu-Yin Ling Quan-Xue Hai. Conclusion The treatment primarily employs acupuncture and warm acupuncture. Acupoint selection primarily involves proximal points and points along the stomach and spleen meridians. Specific points are primarily the He points among the Wu Shu Points. The core combination consists of Du Bi and Nei Xi Yan, combined with other high-frequency acupoints, to achieve meridian unblocking and pain relief, addressing both the root cause and symptoms.
