Abstract: With the continuous increase in the prevalence of diabetes, diabetic retinopathy(DR), as a severe microvascular complication, has become one of the main causes of blindness in adults. Effective health education is a key means to improve patients’ disease awareness, strengthen self-management behaviors, and delay disease progression. However, current challenges for DR patients include insufficient knowledge acquisition, low screening compliance, and homogeneous education models, urgently requiring systematic intervention strategies. This article systematically reviews the application status, model research, effectiveness evaluation, influencing factors, new technology applications, and challenges of health education for DR, aiming at providing reference and inspiration for clinicians to optimize health education programs for DR patients.
