Abstract: 【s】 The prevalence of patients with hyperuricemia (HUA) and gout is on the rise worldwide. In China, HUA has become a significant health concern, ranking alongside three other major diseases: hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a complex condition associated with numerous complications. Among these, diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) is a particularly concerning issue.Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) frequently endangers human health through the complications it can cause. One such complication is diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN), which is estimated to affect between 30% and 70% of the global population by 2022. DPN is characterised by sensory abnormalities, numbness of the extremities and nociceptive sensitisation. It is the most significant contributor to diabetic foot, diabetic ulcers, gangrene and even limb amputation. DPN represents a significant risk factor for diabetic foot, diabetic ulcer, gangrene and even amputation. Elevated serum uric acid levels have been linked to vascular dysfunction and irreversible vascular damage, which can result in tissue ischemia and impaired peripheral nerve function. The current state of knowledge regarding the association between serum uric acid levels and the development of diabetic peripheral neuropathy is characterised by a lack of consensus. This article presents a summary of the research conducted over the past five years on this topic.
