Abstract: Purpose/Significance There are a wide range of medical-related informatics disciplines, and clarifying their research focuses, application areas, and interrelationships is of great significance for talent cultivation planning and policy formulation. Methods/Process This study uses bibliometric methods to explore the research focus of subdisciplines, and utilizes two quantitative indicators to reveal the disciplinary architecture of medically related informatics. Results/Conclusions Chemical informatics utilizes machine learning for drug discovery; computational biology applies machine learning to systems biology; consumer health informatics provides patient education through social media; dental informatics explores the application of medical informatics in dentistry; digital health enhances healthcare through mobile apps and AI; medical informatics utilizes machine learning to analyze electronic health records; nursing informatics focuses on education for the nursing profession; and public health informatics focuses on public infectious disease surveillance. Medical informatics is at the core and closely related to other subdisciplines, while cheminformatics, computational biology, and dental informatics are relatively independent.
