Current Status of Nursing Informatics curriculum in China

Abstract: Objective Combing the status of nursing informatics curriculum in China, and to analyze the problems of nursing informatics education in China ,for to provide reference for the education and development of nursing Informatics. Methods Search the personnel training program of Nursing undergraduate in internet, and use Microsoft Excel 2007 to analyze the contents and class hours of nursing informatics courses. Results The 39 personnel training program came from 20 provinces in China. On average, 3.97±1.37 nursing informatics courses are offered in each college, 37.37±23.14 class hours are offered in each course, including 2.79 ± 1.15 compulsory courses of nursing informatics, 42.82±24.77 class hour for each compulsory courses. The ratio of theoretical class time to practical class time is 1.5:1:1. The content of nursing informatics includes 5 categories, 89(57.42%) information literacy courses; 56(36.13%) computer technology courses; 5(3.22%)health informatics courses, 3(1.94%) development trend courses, 2(1.29%) medical information system courses.
