    Abstract: Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is the most common type of anxiety disorders. In recent years, its incidence rate has been gradually increasing, which seriously impairs peoples quality of life and thus requires appropriate attention. Acupuncture treatment exerts unique therapeutic effects on anxiety symptoms and can significantly improve patients anxiety-like behaviors. Starting from the perspectives of the theoretical basis and clinical application of acupuncture in the treatment of generalized anxiety, this study summarizes the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and modern mechanisms of action of acupuncture for GAD, and systematically sorts out the methods and effects of its single application and combined application in
