Abstract: Objective To investigate the impact of the vertically integrated practical teaching model on the learning abilities of oncology graduate students, including theoretical knowledge, clinical practice skills, and teaching satisfaction. Methods A total of 42 professional oncology graduate students from Shandong Second Medical University between May 2024 and May 2025 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group and a study group. The control group was taught using the traditional training model, while the study group was taught using the vertically integrated practical teaching model. The teaching effectiveness and student satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results The study group demonstrated higher levels of theoretical knowledge, clinical practice skills, and teaching satisfaction compared to the control group, with the difference being statistically significant (P < 0.05). However, there was no statistically significant difference in doctoral admission rates between the study group and the control group (P = 0.66). Conclusion The vertically integrated practical teaching model can enhance the theoretical knowledge and clinical practice skills of professional oncology graduate students while significantly improving satisfaction with the teaching model.
