Abstract: The Five-Body Theory formed based on the Five Elements theory is a crucial ideology in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for analyzing human physiological and pathological phenomena. In the treatment of diabetic foot, this theory can be applied to differentiate syndromes and treat based on the different layers of pathological changes affecting the skin, muscle, vessels, sinew, and bone. When the pathogenic factor affects the vessels, the approach involves supplementing qi and nourishing blood, activating blood flow and relieving obstruction, with modifications to the Huangqi Guizhi Wuwu Tang. When the pathogenic factor affects the skin and muscle, the treatment focuses on clearing heat and eliminating dampness, detoxifying and resolving abscesses, with modifications to the Wuwei Xiaodu Yin and Simiao Wan. If the pathogenic factor affects the sinew, themethod involves nourishing blood, warming the meridians, and dispersing stagnated toxins and clearing heat. This can be achieved through modifications to the Danggui Sini Tang. And when the pathogenic factor affects the bone, the treatment aims to nourish essence and strengthen vital qi, warm the yang and dispel cold, with modifications to the Yanghe Tang. Based on the basic formula, adjustments are also made according to different symptoms such as redness, swelling, cold pain, suppuration, and difficulty in healing, to improve the accuracy of treatment.
