Abstract: The Global Fund is one of the most successful financing instruments in global health, and has played an important role in global prevention and control for AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. This paper analyzed the formation, main components and outcomes of the Global Funds financing mechanism. Based on the experience of the Global Fund, four recommendations were proposed for China’s participation in global health financing. Firstly, China should support the establishment of a demand-oriented and structured global health financing mechanism. Secondly, it should promote the representation and influence of emerging donors in the global health financing mechanism. Thirdly, cooperation with the private sector and non-governmental organizations in global health financing actions should be strengthened. Lastly, China should promote and maintain the status of important health issues on the global agenda and stimulate the vitality of global health financing.
