  Abstract: Ideas of personal digital trace are introduced. Literature about small data in healthcare at home and abroad is studied carefully. Then small data in healthcare is expounded from the perspective of concept generation, characteristics and types. Its application scenarios are analyzed nowadays, such as individual health management, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and clinical research on rare diseases. Finally, the potential key problems and solutions are discussed when researching and applying small data in healthcare, in order to provide reference for small data application in healthcare.
