Abstract: Western medicine, while effective for allergic conjunctivitis in children, faces challenges in preventing recurrence and avoiding the adverse effects of long-term use in complex, refractory cases. Based on extensive clinical practice, Professor Yu Jingsheng elucidates the core pathogenesis as the allergic conjunctivitis in children of insufficient bodily constitution with latent evil factors. The treatment revolves around stage-based pattern differentiation, discerning primary and secondary aspects, and expelling pathogenic factors outward. It often commences with approaches such as invigorating qi for consolidating superficies, invigorating spleen for eliminating dampness, dispelling wind and penetrating evils, and consolidating origin and clearing source. These approaches have proven clinically effective, achieving notable results in controlling recurrence and shortening the disease course. This article aims to summarize Professor Yus extensive clinical experience, thereby providing novel insights into treatment based on syndrome differentiation of allergic conjunctivitis in children. It highlights the advantages of an integrated Chinese and Western medicine approach, which offers benefits such as a shortened disease course, reduced recurrence rates, and sustained long-term therapeutic effects.
