Abstract: Anxiety-induced insomnia, as a common psychosomatic disorder, is closely related to the disorder of qi movement caused by internal injury of emotions. Based on the theory of All diseases arise from qi in the Yellow Emperors Inner Classic, this paper systematically explores the core roles of the liver, heart, and spleen in the pathogenesis of anxiety-induced insomnia. Liver qi stagnation and abnormal regulation lead to the soul not returning to the liver; heart qi exhaustion and disharmony of qi and blood result in the spirit not finding its abode; spleen qi weakness and failure in transportation and transformation cause disharmony of ying and wei. These three factors interact with each other, eventually leading to the imbalance of the spirit - qi - form coordination and causing insomnia. The treatment should focus on regulating the liver by combining soothing and nourishing, calming and nourishing the heart, and strengthening and tonifying the spleen. It is necessary to regulate the ascending, descending, entering, and exiting of qi to provide a theoretical basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment. A case of insomnia treated with Chaihu Jia Longgu Muli Decoction is also presented as an example.
