Abstract: To study the clinical effect of acupoint catgut embedding in the treatment of obese PCOS based on the theory of Chongyang . Methods : From January 2023 to December 2023,60 patients with obese PCOS in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were randomly divided into three groups. The treatment group A was treated with acupoint catgut embedding combined with metformin. The treatment group B was only treated with acupoint catgut embedding. The control group was treated with metformin. The changes of Apelin and adiponectin ( ADP ) levels before and after treatment were compared among the three groups. Results :(1) Post-treatment, Apelin concentrations in the trio of groups were reduced compared to pre-treatment levels(P < 0.05 ) In the control group, Apelin levels exceeded those in both treatment group A and B(P < 0.05 ), yet the difference between treatment group A and B was not statistically significant (P > 0.05 ). (2)Post-treatment, there was a notable rise in ADP levels among the three groups(P < 0.05 ), with both treatment group A and B exhibiting significantly elevated levels compared to the control group (P < 0.05 ), yet the difference between treatment group A and B was not statistically significant(P > 0.05 ). (3)Post-treatment, there was a notable decrease in WHR and BMI levels among the three groups compared to their pre-treatment levels ( P < 0.05 ). There was a notable enhancement in WHR and BMI in treatment group A compared to group B, with group B outperforming the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Drawing from Chongyang theory, treating obese PCOS through acupoint catgut embedding may lower Apelin, WHR, and BMI levels, elevate ADP levels, enhance lipid metabolism in polycystic ovary syndrome, and offer a theoretical foundation for acupoint catgut embedding in treating obese PCOS.
