Abstract: Chronic constipation is a common disease, the incidence of which has increased significantly in recent years, thus seriously affecting the health and quality of life of patients, and the large number of drugs and poor efficacy of treatment have brought serious mental and economic burdens to patients families and society. It was found that rectal hypersensitivity is a pathophysiologic change of chronic constipation, which is significantly associated with the occurrence and development of constipation. In this paper, we review the definition, pathogenesis and treatment of rectal hypersensitivity to explore the effects of rectal hypersensitivity on chronic constipation and to improve rectal hypersensitivity through sensory training and other therapeutic modalities to alleviate chronic constipation, in the hope of further improving the diagnosis and treatment of chronic constipation.
