Abstract: Chronic atrophic gastritis is a chronic non-specific inflammation of the gastric mucosa, with a massive impact on the patient’s daily life. Morden medicine is basically used to eliminate symptoms, but the curative effect is limited. In the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, there is no clear corresponding disease for chronic atrophic gastritis. Professor Gao Zhongying, a famous old traditional Chinese medicine doctor, believes that the stomach carbuncle , first appeared in Taiping Shenghui Fang is highly similar to the symptoms and therapies of chronic atrophic gastritis in modern medicine. This passage mainly introduces Professor Gao Zhongying using the theory of stomach carbuncle, taking spleen deficiency and stomach dryness as the pathogenesis, with the help of gastroscopy diagnosis, and combining traditional Chinese and Western medicine to treat chronic atrophic gastritis. Professor Gao Zhongying skillfully used American ginseng, atractylodes, astragalus, yam, and other drugs that tonifies the spleen and stomach, and has achieved a remarkable curative effect, which is worthy of clinical reference.
