Abstract: Objective: Based on the data related to the pediatric prescription circulation platform, this study explored the comparison of user characteristics from the perspective of patients, in order to improve the pediatric prescription circulation service and related platform construction in China, and provide reference for improving the service level of the prescription circulation platform. Methods: The information of children who used the prescription circulation platform of Beijing Childrens Hospital from September 10, 2019 to July 31, 2023 was collected. According to the way of obtaining drugs, they were divided into online drug purchase group and offline drug purchase group. The characteristics of social demography, medical behavior, and single prescription characteristics were compared and analyzed. Results: There were significant differences in the sociodemographic characteristics (gender, age, ethnicity, main diagnosis, and region), medical behavior characteristics (registration level, registration department), and single prescription characteristics (drug type, number of drugs (boxes), amount of drugs, drug category, delivery method, geographical distribution area, and human development index area) between the online drug purchase group and the offline drug purchase group. Conclusions: The online drug purchase application rate is better for children aged 1-3 years, 7-12 years, Han nationality, North China, very high HDI area, common diseases and chronic diseases. The pediatric prescription circulation platform has great potential in promoting the medical alliance and collaborative units, and the online mode is a good application scenario for the prescription platform to realize the cross-hospital drug circulation. According to different user groups, multi-center online drug logistics centers and offline pharmacies can be built, and reasonable stocking can be made according to the characteristics of single prescription, departments and diagnoses, which can effectively improve the service capacity of the platform.
