Abstract: Vasoactive agents are essential medications in the treatment of septic shock, as they maintain circulatory stability by regulating vascular tone, enhancing myocardial contractility, and improving tissue perfusion. These agents are primarily used in the treatment of critically ill patients, and extensive research has demonstrated a correlation between the dosage of vasoactive agents and adverse outcomes in this population. The Vasoactive-Inotropic Score (VIS) is a clinical scoring system designed to quantify the use of vasoactive agents. The VIS value systematically reflects the intensity of vasoactive support, microcirculatory status, disease severity, and clinical prognosis in patients with septic shock. This review focuses on the VIS and its relevance to adult septic shock, aiming to contribute to prognostic prediction and personalized treatment strategies for adult patients with this condition.
