Abstract: Vasoactive drugs are essential in the treatment of septic shock. They work by regulating vascular tone, enhancing myocardial contractility, and improving tissue perfusion to maintain circulatory stability. However, extensive research indicates that the dosage of vasoactive drugs is associated with adverse outcomes in critically ill patients. The Vasoactive-Inotropic Score (VIS) is a clinical scoring system used to quantify the use of vasoactive medications. The VIS value can systematically reflect the level of vasoactive support, microcirculatory status, disease severity, and clinical prognosis in patients with septic shock. This article focuses on reviewing the relationship between VIS and adult septic shock, aiming to contribute to the prediction of prognosis and the development of individualized treatment strategies for adult septic shock.
