Abstract: In recent years, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases continue to threaten the health of residents in our country. Carotid atherosclerotic plaques serve as a window reflecting coronary atherosclerotic disease, but their pathogenesis has not been fully elucidated. Relevant studies indicate that this disease results from the combined effects of multiple factors. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the pathogenesis of carotid atherosclerotic plaques involves deficiency of qi and blood, obstruction of phlegm and qi, and stasis blocking the meridians, with the core etiology and pathogenesis being deficiency in the root and excess in the branch. In recent years, with the vigorous development of traditional Chinese medicine, progress has been made in its treatment of carotid atherosclerotic plaques. This article reviews the advances in traditional Chinese medicine treatment of carotid atherosclerotic plaques, providing a reference for the treatment of this disease.
