Abstract: Pregnancy-associated venous thromboembolism (PA-VTE) is a significant complication that threatens maternal health. Traditional coagulation tests have limitations in evaluating the hypercoagulable state during pregnancy and guiding anticoagulant therapy. Thromboelastography (TEG) can dynamically and comprehensively assess the entire process of coagulation and fibrinolysis in whole blood, demonstrating unique advantages in identifying the hypercoagulable state during pregnancy, evaluating thrombotic risk, and guiding individualized anticoagulant therapy. This article focuses on the application of TEG in the prevention of pregnancy-associated venous thromboembolism, reviewing its basic principles and parameters, changes in parameters during pregnancy, and its value in assessing thrombotic risk and guiding anticoagulation in high-risk pregnancies.

Key words: Pregnancy-associated venous thromboembolism; Thromboelastography; Anticoagulant therapy; Hypercoagulable state of pregnancy
