Research on the medical insurance participation for young informal employments under the digital economy

    Abstract: Objective The development of digital economy has led more young people to participate in labor as informal employees. Under such circumstances, it is the era requirement of accurate expansion of social insurance to explore ways to improve the effectiveness of medical security for young informal employments from the perspective of insurance cognition. Methods Based on the national survey data of informal employment by the research group of China Academy of Labor and Social Security Sciences, selecting samples aged under 35 and the binomial logit regression model and PSM logit were used for statistical analysis using Stata 16.0. Results Insurance cognition can improve 4.89% of informal employments medical insurance participation, and results showed heterogeneity in gender, age, education level and employment choice. Conclusion To improve the insurance coverage rate of informal employment, the government needs to strengthen policy education and publicity with more flexible methods to solve the insurance coverage problem of this group.
