Abstract: Atherosclerosis is the basic pathological change of coronary heart disease. The formation of vulnerable plaque leads to decreased plaque stability and plaque rupture, which is an important etiology of acute cardiovascular events. Macrophages are important inflammatory cells during the initial and development of atherosclerosis. The stability of plaque is closely related to the polarization of macrophage subtypes. Traditional Chinese medicine have been revealed to improve the stability of AS plaques by regulating the polarization of macrophages, and has a good application prospect in the prevention and treatment of atherosclerotic vulnerable plaques. This article takes macrophage polarization as the entry point, and discusses about traditional Chinese medicine to affect atherosclerosis by regulating macrophage polarization.
