Abstract: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a major global public health challenge, imposing a substantial healthcare burden and significant socio-economic losses. In recent years, the role of circulating inflammatory markers in COPD progression has garnered increasing academic attention. Among these, fibrinogen, due to its extensive involvement in systemic inflammatory responses and tissue damage repair processes, has emerged as one of the most promising inflammatory markers for research. Substantial clinical evidence indicates a significant correlation between fibrinogen levels and both disease progression and prognosis in COPD. This article systematically reviews the molecular biological characteristics of fibrinogen and delves into its clinical association with COPD, pathological mechanisms, and application value. The aim is to enhance clinicians understanding of fibrinogens role in COPD and to provide new theoretical foundations and intervention strategies for the early diagnosis and precision treatment of COPD.
