Abstract: Objective: To explore the value of action learning in improving the practical ability of clinical medical interns. Methods: Undergraduate interns who participated in pediatric surgery in the Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical University and neonatology and gynecology in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical University from August 2022 to December 2023 were selected as teaching objects. 200 Students are divided into two groups according to the last digit of their student IDs upon enrollment. Specifically, those with an odd - numbered last digit are assigned to the experimental group, and those with an even - numbered last digit are assigned to the control group. There are 100 students in each group. The experimental group adopted the action learning teaching mode, while the control group adopted the traditional teaching mode. Results:Carry out a comparison and analysis of the scores of the two groups of students upon their entry and exit from the course, clinical diagnosis and treatment level, teamwork ability, and acceptance of action learning practice teaching method were compared and analyzed between the two groups. Results: The examination scores at the end of the rotation: The experimental group was (92.45 ± 8.06), while the control group was (87.13 ± 7.79); The scores of clinical diagnosis and treatment level: The experimental group was (46.34 ± 1.12), while the control group was (40.78 ± 1.98); The scores of teamwork ability: The experimental group was (92.26 ± 6.24), while the control group was (82.06 ± 5.00).The scores, clinical diagnosis and treatment level and teamwork ability of the experimental group were better than those of the control group., and the differences were statistically significant (P< 0.05). There was no significant difference between the experimental group(65.73±5.23)and the control group(64.54±5.17)in the acceptance of action learning practice teaching method (P>0.05). Conclusion: First, action learning is helpful to improve the practical ability of clinical medical interns, cultivate the ability of active learning and team cooperation, and improve the training efficiency and quality of clinicians. Second, students acceptance of action learning method is not high, and it is still exploring to go for its application in China. In the future, action learning method teaching mode should be developed in accordance with the characteristics of domestic students.
