Research applications of blood markers in the diagnosis of insomnia disorders

  Abstract: Insomnia disorder has been increasing in prevalence in recent years and is a common comorbidity in psychiatric-behavioural disorders. However, the diagnostic techniques for insomnia disorder mainly rely on subjective descriptions of the condition and assessment of relevant scales, and there is an urgent need for the development of objective biomarkers. In this paper, we review the application of blood biomarkers in the diagnosis of insomnia disorders, with the aim of objectively identifying patients with insomnia disorders and improving the specificity and sensitivity of the diagnosis of insomnia disorders.
